Big Sur
After ringing in the new year with friends in Capitola, CA, Gretchen and I headed down the coast to Big Sur, a beautiful stretch of coast between Monterey and Santa Barbara. California Highway 1 between Monterey and Big Sur has to be the most senic drive in the country. If you ever get the chance to drive it, do it!
Rugged costal scenes like this are around every turn.
Here is a silhouette of Point Sur Lighthouse (posted for the benefit of my Mom who is a lighthouse junkie).
Here is the view from the door of our rustic cabin at the Lucia Lodge, 30 minutes south of the "town" of Big Sur.
It rained most of the day, but the weather actually made it more scenic (if that's possible).
We spent quite a bit of time watching the rain storms sweep in over the ocean. All in all, it was a great day and another reminder of how lucky we are to live here.
